Switched CGM or Pump? What to Do With Old Supplies
We buy sealed diabetic supplies for cash. We do not sell supplies.
If you switched CGM or pump, your old sealed supplies don't have to go to waste. First, check whether any of them still work with your new system. Then sell or donate the sealed, unexpired boxes you can't use, and stop the refills so no more arrive.
Selling? See how we buy Omnipod.
This page is general information, not medical or legal advice. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about your own care.
Here's how to sort what you have, what we buy and what to do with the rest.
Switched CGM or pump? Check first
Before you sell anything, check whether your new system can use it. A few common cases:
- Moving from G6 to G7. Dexcom says the G7 is an all-in-one sensor and transmitter. Your G6 sensors and transmitters won't work with G7.
- Moving from Libre 2 or 3 to a Plus sensor. Abbott stopped selling the original Libre 2 and Libre 3 sensors in the U.S. after September 30, 2025. If you still have Libre 3 sensors, Abbott says you can keep using them until they expire.
- Moving from DASH to Omnipod 5. Insulet says the Omnipod 5 system works only with pods made for Omnipod 5.
- Changing sensors on Omnipod 5. Insulet says pods made for Dexcom G6 and G7 don't work with FreeStyle Libre sensors.
If you're not sure, ask your doctor or the maker's support line. Don't guess with a device that doses insulin.
Some switches leave you with supplies you can still use. For example, if your new pump works with your current sensor, keep the sensors. Only sell what truly won't work with your new setup.
What can you sell?
We buy these when they're sealed and unexpired:
- Dexcom G7 10-day and 15 Day, and Stelo
- FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus, Libre 3 and Libre 2 Plus
- Omnipod 5 pods and starter kits, and DASH 5-packs and 10-packs
- Tandem AutoSoft and TruSteel infusion sets
- BD pen needles
- Contour, Accu-Chek, FreeStyle Lite and OneTouch Ultra strips
We also buy sealed G6 transmitters that were never started and sealed G6 receivers that were never set up. We don't buy G6 sensors. See what we buy for the full list.
What can't you sell?
Some items have to go another way. We don't buy:
- Opened boxes, loose pods or loose sensors
- Expired items
- Anything marked "NOT FOR RESALE"
- Supplies paid for by Medicare or Medi-Cal
- Insulin
If something is on this list, it can still be useful. A clinic may take sealed items we can't buy. Our article on what supplies can't be sold explains each one.
How do you sort what you have?
Lay everything out on a table. Give yourself enough room to see every box and read every date. Then sort it into four piles:
- Keep: anything your new system can use
- Sell: sealed, unexpired boxes you can't use
- Donate: sealed items we don't buy that a clinic might take
- Toss: opened, expired or used items, with sharps kept out of the trash
For each box in the sell pile, check the date next to the hourglass symbol. More time left usually means a better offer, so don't wait long.
How do you stop the refills?
This step keeps the pile from growing. Call your pharmacy or supply company and ask them to stop the old item. Some supplies ship on a schedule, so a box can show up even after you switch.
If a box arrives after you've switched, don't open it. A sealed box can still be sold or donated.
Check your insurance portal or app, too. Some auto-refills are set up there instead of at the pharmacy. Cancel them in both places to be safe.
A real-life example
Say you used Omnipod DASH with a Dexcom G6. Your doctor moved you to Omnipod 5 with a Dexcom G7.
You lay out your old supplies. You find three sealed DASH 10-packs, two G6 sensor boxes and one sealed G6 transmitter you never started.
The DASH pods won't work with Omnipod 5, so they go in the sell pile. You check the dates, and each box has more than a year left. The G6 transmitter is sealed and never started, so it goes there too. We don't buy G6 sensors, so those go to the donate pile.
You send photos of the DASH boxes and the transmitter. You get a written quote, accept it and choose mail-in. You pack the box, ship it with tracking and get paid by Zelle within 48 hours of delivery.
Then you call your supply company and stop the DASH and G6 refills. Now the only supplies coming are the ones you'll use.
What about used supplies and sharps?
Used items can't be sold or donated. Never sell a worn sensor, a used pod or an opened infusion set.
Used needles, lancets and infusion sets with needles go in a sharps container. California offers a free mail-back sharps container through Sharps Take Back California.
Ready to sell? Send photos of the front of each sealed box and its date. You'll get a written quote with no fee and no pressure.
In San Bernardino or Riverside County, we meet at a public place and pay by cash, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal. Everywhere else, you mail the boxes after accepting the quote and pay the shipping. Leave the pharmacy stickers on, and black out your name with a marker if you like.

Questions
Can I sell supplies from my old CGM?
Yes, if they're sealed, unexpired and on our list. We buy G7, Stelo and Libre Plus sensors, plus sealed, never-started G6 transmitters.
Do G6 sensors work with G7?
No. Dexcom says the G7 is an all-in-one sensor and transmitter, so G6 parts don't work with it.
Can I use DASH pods with Omnipod 5?
No. Insulet says Omnipod 5 works only with pods made for Omnipod 5.
How do I stop getting old supplies?
Call your pharmacy or supply company and ask them to stop the old item. Do it as soon as you switch.
