How to Sell Omnipod 5 and DASH Pods

Which Omnipod boxes can you sell?
We buy these when they're sealed and unexpired:
- Omnipod 5 pods
- Omnipod 5 starter kits
- Omnipod DASH 5-packs
- Omnipod DASH 10-packs
We don't buy loose pods, opened boxes, expired pods or boxes marked "NOT FOR RESALE." We also don't buy pods paid for by Medicare or Medi-Cal. There's no minimum, so one box is fine. See our Omnipod page for details.
Omnipod 5 vs DASH pods
The name is printed on the box. Omnipod 5 and DASH pods aren't the same product. Insulet says the Omnipod 5 system works only with pods made for Omnipod 5.
Each pod is worn for up to 72 hours, so a box doesn't last long once you start using it. If you switch systems, though, the boxes you have left stop being useful to you. That's also why extra boxes can pile up fast after a change in your care.
Which Omnipod 5 version do you have?
Omnipod 5 pods also come in versions for specific sensors. Insulet says pods made for Dexcom G6 and G7 don't work with FreeStyle Libre sensors.

Knowing your version helps us quote you faster. When you send photos, include the corner of the box with the logos. If there are no sensor logos, tell us that too. Our guide on Dexcom vs Libre Omnipod 5 pods has more detail.
What makes a pod box sellable?
We look at a few things:
- The box is sealed. No tears, cuts or tape.
- The date next to the hourglass symbol is still ahead.
- The box isn't crushed, wet or faded.
More time before the date usually means a better offer. Sell soon after you know you won't use them, since every month counts.
Keep each box flat and dry. A crushed corner or a water stain can make a box hard to sell, even if the pods inside are fine.
Store pods inside your home until you sell. Insulet's safety guide says to store pods between 32°F and 86°F. Don't leave them in a hot car or garage. Bring new boxes inside as soon as they arrive.
How to sell Omnipod pods
The steps are short:
- Check each box for a whole seal and a future date.
- Send photos of the front of each box and the label with the date. Use our quote form, text (909) 619-5262 or email.
- Get a written quote that lists each box. There's no fee and no pressure to accept.
- In San Bernardino or Riverside County, we meet at a public place and pay by cash, Zelle, Venmo or PayPal.
- Everywhere else, you mail the boxes after accepting the quote. You pay shipping, and we email our address.
For mail-in, we pay by Zelle within 48 hours of delivery if the items match the description. Items that don't match aren't paid for and aren't sent back. See our mail-in steps for packing tips.
Leave the pharmacy stickers on. You can black out your name with a marker. We remove and shred them ourselves.
A real-life example
Say you used Omnipod DASH for two years, then your doctor moved you to Omnipod 5. You have three sealed DASH 10-packs and one sealed DASH 5-pack left over.
Your new system only works with Omnipod 5 pods, so the DASH boxes won't help you anymore. They're still sealed, though, and someone else can use them before they expire. You check the dates, and all four have more than a year left.
You live in Moreno Valley, so you choose local pickup. It means no packing and no shipping cost. You send photos, get a written quote and meet at a busy shopping center on a Saturday. We check the boxes together, and you're paid by PayPal on the spot.
Then you ask your pharmacy to cancel the DASH refills, so no more boxes show up. You confirm the payment in your app, and you're done.
What about the starter kit?
We buy sealed Omnipod 5 starter kits too. If you got a kit and never opened it, it can be sold like a box of pods. If the kit has been opened, we can't buy it.
Never sell a pod that's been worn or filled. Only sealed boxes can be sold.
