Can You Sell Dexcom Sensors on eBay?

We buy sealed diabetic supplies for cash. We do not sell supplies.

Updated October 29, 2026

Usually not. eBay's policy says medical devices that require a prescription can't be sold on eBay. Dexcom CGMs need a prescription in the U.S., so a listing can be blocked or pulled. Selling to a buyer who handles sealed supplies directly is often faster.

Here's what eBay's rules say, why you still see sensors listed and what your other options are.

What does eBay's policy say?

eBay's medical devices policy has a few main points:

  • Prescription devices can't be listed.
  • Allowed medical items must say if they've been opened or used.
  • The listing must state the expiration date.
  • Items must reach the buyer before they expire.
  • Needles aren't allowed, with or without a syringe.

Over-the-counter devices are a different story. eBay allows those if the listing follows the rules.

Do Dexcom sensors need a prescription?

The Dexcom G6 and G7 are prescription devices. Dexcom tells users to get a new prescription to switch from G6 to G7. That puts them in the group eBay doesn't allow.

Rules can change, so check eBay's current policy before you list anything.

Why do I still see sensors on eBay?

Some listings get through before eBay catches them. That doesn't make them allowed. Listings that break the rules can be taken down, and repeat problems can affect your account.

There's also a timing cost. If a listing gets pulled after a week, your boxes are a week closer to their dates.

What are the risks of selling online?

Even on sites that allow it, selling to strangers has risks:

  • Fake payments or chargebacks after you ship
  • Buyers who claim the box arrived empty
  • Shipping heat damage in summer
  • Fees that cut into what you keep

Our guide on avoiding scams covers the warning signs. Also see selling online or locally.

What's a simpler way to sell sealed sensors?

Sell to a buyer who works with sealed supplies every day. You skip the listing, the fees and the wait for a bidder. We buy sealed, unexpired Dexcom G7 and G7 15 Day sensors, sealed G7 receivers, sealed Stelo and sealed G6 transmitters and receivers. We don't buy G6 sensors right now.

What's the downside of waiting?

Every week a box sits unsold, its date gets closer. Short-dated sensors are worth less, and expired ones can't be sold at all. If a listing gets blocked, don't keep relisting. Get a quote and move on.

Selling to one buyer also means one payment and one handoff. You don't have to answer messages, handle returns or ship to a stranger across the country.

What about Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist?

Every site has its own rules, and many limit medical items. Even where listings are allowed, you're meeting a stranger and taking their payment on trust. If you do sell that way, meet in a busy public place, get paid before you hand anything over and confirm the payment in your app first.

How do you prepare boxes for a quote?

  1. Sort boxes by product and version.
  2. Check each seal and date.
  3. Set aside anything opened, damaged or expired.
  4. Take one clear photo of each label.

That's the same prep you'd need for any listing, but it takes a few minutes instead of a few days.

We never buy expired items, opened boxes, insulin, anything marked "NOT FOR RESALE," or OneTouch Verio, Dexcom G5, FreeStyle Libre 14-day and Guardian 4. We also don't buy supplies paid for by Medicare or Medi-Cal. See what diabetic supplies can't be sold.

How does selling to us work?

  1. Check that each box is sealed and the date is still ahead.
  2. Take a clear photo of the front label and the expiration date.
  3. Send the photos through our quote form, or call or text (909) 619-5262.
  4. Get a written quote with a price for each item.
  5. Pick local pickup in the Inland Empire or mail-in from anywhere in the U.S.
  6. Get paid. Local sellers are paid at pickup. Mail-in sellers get Zelle within 48 hours of delivery if the items match.

There are no fees and no minimum. One box is fine. If you have strips, pods or pen needles too, send them in the same request so one quote covers everything. See how it works for more detail.

Is selling Dexcom sensors legal?

Rules can vary by state and by product, and we can't give legal advice. eBay's policy is a site rule, not a law. Our article on selling test strips in California shares what we know. Ask a professional if you're unsure about your situation.

A real-life example

Say you tried to list four G7 boxes on eBay and the listing was blocked. You live in Fontana, so you text photos to us instead. You get a written quote the same day, pick local pickup and get paid at the meetup. No listing fees, and no waiting.

Who is Golden State Diabetic Supply?

We're Golden State Diabetic Supply, Inc., a local buyer based in the Inland Empire. We buy sealed, unexpired diabetic supplies from people who no longer need them. We pick up in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, and we take mail-in from anywhere in the U.S.
